Remember this game? Everyone crushes into a tight circle and grabs hands with one another randomly and then attempts to untangle and form a wide open circle. Composing this group here are my siblings and I, one husband, and various friends and allies.

nugget
i am
a modern man
cloaked
in thickening blankets
of self-awareness
and daggered
by lengthening commercial insight
i am
a modern man
authentic
to what extent i can afford
and cheapened
by the quickest thrill that thrills
but broadened by
those that care to know me
i am
a simple man
hopeless when sprinting
breathless when jogging
and as fearless as the still nugget of quiet that...

ever mind, a poem
Nothing like home to stir into action whats become motionless.

I found some old footage of my mom and her friend strolling around Laurelhurst Park during the last big snow storm here, almost 40 years ago! The song is new, and it doesn’t sound from quite the right era, but I think it totally works. No?

cranking
This weather is making me cranky. For one thing, walking anywhere has become a real trial. Stomp-stomp-stomping through the thick, heavy snow on the sidewalks is one option. The other is to take the road, but its not much easier. The buses are lost and untimely, though today I got lucky going to and from work. And work… ugh. Certainly can’t be out delivering, so I’m back in...

rambling
I’ve got this strange compulsion to ramble on, to avoid punctuation at all costs, and to just generally disregard my audience, such as it is, and to instead puke radioactive blah blah and to see what sticks.
I’m also sick of cheating by posting photos, music, and links to other folks’ finds.
‘Bout to get real!
Probably.

Top 10 Albums of 2008
The selections are picked mostly by the number of listens I gave them each over the course of the year. They are ranked, however, by my passion for the artistry therein sonified.
Its a tad too predictable for my liking, but here you go:
Lykke Li - Youth Novel
Frightened Rabbit - Midnight Organ Fight
Fleet Foxes - Ragged Wood
Vampire Weekend - S/T
Beach House - Devotion
Titus Andronicus...

The second-most-influential psychotherapist of the twentieth century, by the reckoning of the American Psychological Association, turned ninety last month. His name is Albert Ellis, and, in case you didn’t know, he is the founder of Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy, or rebt, and the author of more than seventy books, including “Sex Without Guilt,” “Sex and the Liberated Man,” “The Case for...

love
this town. Man, I really do. Someone tagged a bus stop on Belmont in big, flowery script, “Tis the season of love and peace.” It was corny and I loved it, I really did.
I missed my stop for work (7th and Morrison) this morning, so I yanked the Stop Request cable before we got to the river and leaped out of my seat. The young woman standing by the back door was startled, then...
